Richmond USTA Junior Team Tennis
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Richmond Tennis Association (RTA) has not been able to hold its signature tournaments to raise money for one of its most inspiring programs, the RTA Rising Stars Tennis Academy.
On December 2, Mercedes-Benz of Richmond and Midlothian donated $5,000 in matching funds to the Richmond Tennis Association’s Rising Stars Tennis Academy. The RTA Rising Stars Tennis Academy was created as an RTA and City of Richmond partnership in 2018 to teach tennis to Richmond’s underserved youth with trained, professional coaches.
COVID-safe tennis events were hosted by area clubs across the Richmond region to raise money and earn the matching funds from Mercedes-Benz of Richmond and Midlothian. Participating clubs included Hermitage Country Club, Salisbury Country Club, Raintree Swim & Racquet Club, Willow Oaks Country Club, Westwood Club, Kanawha Recreation Association, Ridgetop Recreation Association, and Bon Air Community Association.
Mercedes-Benz of Richmond and Mercedes-Benz of Midlothian have been proud supporters of Richmond tennis and the RTA since 2016. Finding a creative way to still support the Rising Stars Tennis Academy and its youth in this COVID pandemic was something both we at Mercedes-Benz and the RTA was passionate about. The RTA Rising Stars Tennis Academy will continue with upcoming sessions as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
“The Rising Stars Tennis Academy has introduced the wonderful game of tennis to so many juniors in the Richmond area and stands ready to continue its mission due to supports like Mercedes-Benz of Richmond and Mercedes-Benz of Midlothian that make it possible.”
